Colloquium by Szymon Klarman

TITLE: Managing Contextualization in Description Logics
SPEAKER: Szymon Klarman, CAIR

ABSTRACT: In this talk I want to give a high-level overview of my PhD work on the representation and reasoning with contexts in Description Logics (DLs). The central contribution of this research is a logic-based context framework, originating from the work of J. McCarthy, which provides a conceptually unifying perspective on a number of problems pertinent to processing of context-sensitive knowledge. After a brief presentation of this framework, I will elaborate on two possible strategies of involving it in the DL setting, which nicely exemplify heavy- and light-weight approaches to managing contextualization in DLs.
